Vachellia farnesiana (Linnaeus) Wight & Arnott var. farnesiana. Common name: Common Sweet Acacia, Huisache, Opoponax, Cashia, Aroma, Cassie, Yellow Opopanax. Phenology: Jan-Dec. Habitat: Sandy flats on barrier islands, maritime scrub, shell middens. Distribution: E. GA, along the coast, south to s. FL; the GA occurrence appears native (see Duncan 1985); Bahamas; West Indies; sw. US, Mexico, Central America, and South America.
