Ximenia americana Linnaeus. Tallow-wood, Hog-plum. Phen: Mar-May (-Nov). Hab: Hammocks, pine flatwoods, Florida scrub, coastal berms. Dist: FL peninsula, north to Duval County, FL; Bahamas; West Indies; Mexico, Central America, and South America; Paleotropics (Asia, Africa, Australia, Indian Ocean Islands).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Varieties are sometimes recognized, in which case our material is X. americana var. americana, with essentially the distribution of the species. The other two varieties occur in Argentina and Africa (Nickrent in FNA 2016).

Synonymy : = Bah, Fl4, K1, K3, K4, Mex, S, WH3; > Ximenia americana L. var. americana – FNA12
