*Lygodium japonicum (Thunberg) Swartz. Common name: Japanese Climbing Fern. Phenology: Jun-Dec. Habitat: Disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of e. and s. Asia. Described in Small (1913a) as "escaped from cultivation along roadsides near Thomasville, Georgia".

ID notes: The leaves (up to 30 m in length!) climb into the canopy of trees in swamp forests and other wet habitats.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia
