Carex aestivaliformis Mackenzie. Section: [26ff] Section 23b Hymenochlaenae. Hab: High-elevation wet meadows, sphagnous beaver wetlands (TN, VA), upland submesic forests (GA, TN). Dist: The distribution is unclear, because of variable treatment in the past.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Considered by some to be a hybrid (of C. aestivalis × gracillima), but with little known documentation or evidence for or against its alleged hybrid status; further study is needed.
