CYPERACEAE

Carex aquatilis Wahlenberg var. substricta Kükenthal. Aquatic Sedge. Hab: Mountaintop ponds (with Dulichium arundinaceum, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Juncus canadensis), mafic fens at high elevation, northwards in sedge meadows and shores. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) west to ND, south to NJ, s. PA, OH, IN, IA, and NE; disjunct in w. VA (Augusta County) and nw. NC (Bluff Mountain, Ashe County, NC).

Origin/Endemic status: Native
