Carex arctata W. Boott. Section: [26ff] Section 23c Hymenochlaenae. Black Sedge, Drooping Woodland Sedge. Hab: Northern hardwood and spruce forests, bog edges, moist forests northwards in our region. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) west to MN, south to PA, w. VA, nw. NC (Long Hope Valley, Ashe County; Grandfather Mountain), and OH. First reported for VA (Highland County) by Fleming & Ludwig (1996).

Origin/Endemic status: Native
