not marked as a favorite taxon Carex striata Michaux var. brevis L.H. Bailey. Common name: Walter’s Sedge. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Pocosins, limesink ponds, small depression ponds, clay-based Carolina bays, acid peaty swamps, wet savannas (dominated by Pinus serotina and/or Taxodium ascendens). Distribution: E. MA south to SC.
