Fimbristylis castanea (Michaux) Vahl. Common name: Marsh Fimbry. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Brackish marshes and dune swales. Distribution: NY (Long Island) south to s. TX and adjacent Mexico (TAM, VER); Yucatan peninsula of Mexico (ROO, YUC); West Indies.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Replaced in most of the New World tropics by the related F. spadicea.
