Rhynchospora elliottii A. Dietrich. Elliott's Beaksedge. Phen: Jul-Sep. Hab: Pine savannas, ditches, other wet habitats, often weedy. Dist: Se. NC south to c. peninsular FL and west to e. TX; Bahamas.

ID notes:Rhynchospora elliottii is a tall beaksedge, usually 6-10 dm tall, with the stems up to 5 mm thick. The inflorescence is rather large and often arches over. The achenes are typically flat or concave on one face, and flat or slightly convex on the other. See note under R. microcarpa.
