Rhynchospora fascicularis (Michaux) Vahl. Fascicled Beaksedge. Phen: Jun-Sep. Hab: Pine savannas, limesink ponds, ditches, firelanes. A commonly encountered species in both intact and disturbed pine savannas and similar habitats in much of the Coastal Plain. Dist: Se. VA south to s. FL and west to se. TX; West Indies.

ID notes:Rhynchospora fascicularis is much like R. distans but with larger heads, broader leaves, etc. (see Rhynchospora Key E). The seed bristles are less than half as long as the seed body (vs. as long as the seed body or even longer in R. distans). At a distance it resembles R. ciliaris but the leaves are not finely fringed on the margins as that species is.
