NJ south to s. FL and west to e. TX; rarely inland, as in ec. TN, w. NC, nw. SC, n. GA, etc.; West Indies; Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua.

Other Comments: Resembling R. galeana and R. oligantha, but the spikelets conspicuously smaller.
