Rhynchospora sulcata Gale. Grooved Beaksedge. Phen: Jun-Jul. Hab: Limesink ponds (dolines), Carolina bays, other seasonally ponded depressional wetlands. Dist: Se. NC south to Panhandle FL; West Indies (Cuba); Central America and perhaps n. South America. See Ungberg (2022) for discussion of its occurrence in NC.

ID notes:Rhynchospora sulcata is very similar to R. microcarpa and can be easily confused with it; see Rhynchospora Key F.
