Aristida curtissii (A. Gray ex S. Watson & Coulter) Nash. Curtiss's Three-awn. Phen: Jul-Oct. Hab: Roadsides, disturbed areas, bare eroding soil. Dist: ME west to WY, south to n. FL, AR, OK, and CO, perhaps largely or adventive east of the Mississippi River.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: See Allred (1986) for a discussion of the rationale for reducing A. curtissii to a variety of A. dichotoma. Cronquist (1991) reduces it to a variety of the more western A. basiramea Engelmann ex Vasey. For now, and for simplicity, I prefer to retain the two as species.
