Coryphopteris simulata (Davenport) S.E. Fawcett. Bog Fern, Massachusetts Fern. Phen: Jul-Sep. Hab: In NC and WV in acid peat bogs at about 1000 meters in elevation, in DE, NJ, and VA in acid seepage swamps in the Coastal Plain. Dist: Northeastern, ranging from NS south to ne. VA (Accomack, New Kent, Northampton and Westmoreland counties) and n. WV (Tucker and Preston counties), and disjunct in nw. NC (Alleghany, Ashe, and Avery counties), TN (Sevier County), and WI. Discovered in NC in the 1980's, and presently known only from three sites in that state.
