ID notes:Internodes can be glabrous or puberulent, and nodes glabrous, pubescent, or bearded, but the glabrous spikelets 0.9-1.2 mm long are diagnostic. The concept of this taxon in FNA (as ssp. chamaelonche) appears to include D. dichotomum var .glabrifolium (see descriptions of Floridian D. chamaelonche ssp. breve and D. dichotomum var. glabrifolium in this treatment).
