Clematis coactilis (Fernald) Keener. Subgenus: Viorna. Virginia White-haired Leatherflower. Phen: May-Jun; May-Aug. Hab: Shale barrens, shaly woodlands, dry calcareous barrens and woodlands. Dist: Endemic to w. VA (Botetourt, Craig, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski, Roanoke, and Wythe counties).
