Chrysosplenium americanum Schweinitz ex Hooker. Common name: Golden-saxifrage, Water-mat, Water-carpet. Phenology: Mar-Jun. Habitat: In shaded, rocky, gravelly, and/or mossy seeps and seepage swamps. Distribution: QC west to SK, south to e. VA, w. NC, n. GA, e. TN, and n. IN.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Flowers: Flowers mostly solitary at ends of branches or in upper leaf axils, inconspicuous, greenish-yellow with a ring of 4 or 8 red anthers.

Fruits: Fruit a tiny, 2-lobed capsule.
