Heuchera hirsuticaulis (Wheelock) Rydberg. Section: Heuchera. Subsection: Heuchera. Phen: May-Jul. Hab: Bluffs and outcrops. Dist: S. MI west to n. IL and sw. MO, south to c. TN, nw. AR, and ne. OK. In Union Parish, LA (Michael 2021c). Allegedly ranging east to w. KY (Medley 1993), w. and c. TN (D. Estes, pers. comm. 2008), and e. GA (Screven County specimens at NCU, but perhaps better considered H. americana [var. heteradenia]).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Considered by Wells (1984) to represent fertile hybrids between H. americana var. americana and H. richardsonii; here regarded as a stabilized taxon, with numerous occurrences beyond the distribution of one or the other alleged parent.

Synonymy: = GrPl, S, S13; = Heuchera ×hirsuticaulis (Wheelock) Rydb. (pro sp.) – C; = Heuchera americana L. var. hirsuticaulis (Wheelock) Rosend., Butters, & Lakela – Ar, FNA8, K1, K3, K4, Mi, Tn, Wells (1984); > Heuchera americana L. var. hirsuticaulis (Wheelock) Rosend., Butters, & Lakela – F, Il, Rosendahl, Butters, & Lakela (1936); > Heuchera americana L. var. interior Rosend., Butters, & Lakela – F, Il, Rosendahl, Butters, & Lakela (1936)
