Stems: Stems branched, soft-hairy.

Leaves: Leaves alternate; long-petiolate; divided into 3 hairy, broadly oval or heart-shaped leaflets, each to 1 in. long and finely toothed on the margin.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in crowded, cylindrical or conical terminal spikes, 1-2 1/4 in. tall; bright red; about 1/2 in. long; bilaterally symmetric and with typical pea-flower shape.
