*Trifolium subterraneum Linnaeus. Subterranean Clover. Phen: Mar-May. Hab: Disturbed areas, waste areas near wool-combing mills. Dist: Native of Europe, Asia, and n. Africa. Reported for NC and SC by Isely (1990); reported for Piedmont of GA by Jones & Coile (1988), and collected in MS (Stone County) (S.W. Leonard, pers. comm. 2007).

Origin/Endemic status: Mediterranean Europe and Africa

Synonymy: = Ar, FNA11.2, K1, K3, K4, NE, SE3, Isely (1998); = n/a – RAB
