Rosa virginiana P. Miller ssp. virginiana . Virginia Rose. Phen: May-Jun (-Aug); Aug-Oct. Hab: Moist to dry forests and woodlands. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) and ON south to GA, AL, and MO. Allegedly also in c. TN (Chester, Wofford, & Kral 1997), e. and c. KY (Clark et al. 2005), these records disputed.
