Hab: Bottomland forests, hardwood flatwoods, prairies with tight soils; rarely river bluffs and ravines. Dist: W. TN, s. MO, and OK south to MS, LA, TX, and Mexico (COA, NLE, TAM); disjunct in e. Panhandle FL.
