Ulmus crassifolia Nuttall. Common name: Cedar Elm, Olmo. Phenology: Jul-Oct. Habitat: Bottomland forests, hardwood flatwoods, prairies with tight soils; rarely river bluffs and ravines. Distribution: W. TN, s. MO, and OK south to MS, LA, TX, and Mexico (COA, NLE, TAM); disjunct in the Big Bend portion of n. FL and n. peninsular FL.
