*Broussonetia papyrifera (Linnaeus) L'Héritier ex Ventenat. Common name: Paper Mulberry. Phenology: Apr-May. Habitat: Urban lots, disturbed areas, roadsides. Distribution: Native of e. Asia.
ID notes: Easily distinguished from all of our Morus species by its harshly scabrous leaf pubescence, also giving the leaf a grayish coloration from a distance, and the mixture of alternate, opposite, and whorled leaf arrangement (as opposed to strictly alternate in Morus).
