Pilea microphylla (Linnaeus) Liebmann. Rockweed, Artilleryweed. Phen: Jan-Dec. Hab: Marl prairies, hammocks, pine rocklands, old rock and brick walls, urban areas, hammocks, especially in thin soil over limestone. Dist: FL (perhaps more widespread as a native in the Southeastern US than just FL); West Indies; Mexico, Central America, and South America. Although listed by RAB for the Carolinas as "a weed in and around greenhouses, not established as part of our flora", this species is well-established and weedy in Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. Native at least in FL, and perhaps further north, the original distribution unclear.
