Bryodesma tortipilum (A. Braun) Soják. Twisted-hair Spikemoss. Phen: Jul-Sep. Hab: Rock outcrops, especially at high elevations. Dist: Endemic to the Southern Appalachians (rarely into the Piedmont) of NC, SC, and GA. Occurring close to TN and VA; it should be sought there.
