Hab: Upland areas, often in open or semi-open sites, in barrens, fens, rocky woodlands, and grassy balds over mafic rocks (such as amphibolite) up to at least 1800m elevation, also in powerline rights-of-way, woodland borders, and other miscellaneous habitats. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) and MB, south to Panhandle FL and ne. TX.
