Viola pedata Linnaeus var. flabellata D. Don & Link. Section: Nosphinium. Subsection: Pedatae. Common name: Sandhill Bird’s-foot Violet. Phenology: Chasmogamous flower Mar-Jul (Sep-Nov); chasmogamous fruit May-Jul. Habitat: Dry to xeric longleaf pine sandhills. Distribution: Sc. NC south to c. SC (and perhaps GA). There are a few odd collections in the West Gulf Coastal Plain that resemble var. flabellata.
