Rhexia aristosa Britton. Awned Meadow-beauty, Bristly Meadow-beauty. Phen: Jun-Sep. Hab: Pondcypres savannas in clay-based Carolina bays, depression meadows, and limesink ponds (dolines). Dist: This species has a very local and disjunct range extending (strictly on the Coastal Plain) from NJ south to AL.

ID notes:The long yellowish bristles at the summit of the calyx/hypanthium are diagnostic.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: R. aristosa × virginica is known from the Coastal Plain of NJ (Snyder 1996).
