Hab: Swamps and floodplains, often in deeply flooded situations. Dist: A. rubrum var. drummondii is probably limited to the Mississippi River basin and its immediate tributaries; reports from more eastern areas likely represent pubescent extremes of Acer rubrum var. trilobum.
