OH, south to DC, WV, w. VA, and ne. TN; disjunct in nw. OH and ne. IN (where presumably native) and with additional collections from e. MA, NY (Long Island), s. NJ, s. MI, and s. ON (where presumably adventive or persistent from horticultural use) (Spooner et al. 1985).
