Dist: A Southern and Central Appalachian endemic, P. pubera ranges from sw. PA (Rhoads & Block 2007), e. WV, and w. VA south and west to e. KY, w. NC, e. TN, and n. and wc. GA.

Other Comments: The oil in the fruits is very poisonous. Pyrularia pubera forms parasitic root connections with numerous trees, shrubs, and herbs with which it grows.
