Najas gracillima (A. Braun ex Engelmann) Magnus. Subgenus: Caulinia. Section: Caulinia. Slender Naiad, Bushy Naiad. Phen: Jul-Oct. Hab: Ponds, lakes, slow-moving streams. Dist: NS west to MN, south to NC, AL, and MO; disjunct in CA (where likely alien).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Other Comments: Haynes (1979) reports that this species cannot tolerate pollution and is apparently declining in abundance.
