Silene caroliniana Walter var. caroliniana . South Carolina Wild-pink, Rock Catchfly. Phen: Apr-Jul. Hab: In acidic, sandy, open woodlands, especially woodlands around granitic flatrocks, and also on rocky mafic slopes. Dist: Sc. NC south through the e. three-quarters of SC just into e. GA; disjunct in Panhandle FL.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: See Wilbur (1970b) and Clausen (1939) for additional discussion of these infraspecific taxa in S. caroliniana.
