*Silene dioica (Linnaeus) Clairville. Red Campion, Red Catchfly. Phen: May-Aug. Hab: Disturbed areas. Dist: Native of Europe. Introduced south at least to scattered locations in s. PA (Rhoads & Klein 1993). Reported rather vaguely for VA (Maguire 1950) as "south to Virginia"; no additional documentation is known to me.

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Synonymy: = C, FNA5, Il, K1, K3, K4, Mi, NE, NY, Pa; = Lychnis dioica L. – F, Tat
