*Amaranthus hypochondriacus Linnaeus. Prince's-feather. Phen: Jul-Oct. Hab: Disturbed areas. Dist: Native of tropical America. The type locality is "Virginia", where apparently early introduced.

Origin/Endemic status: Garden origin

Taxonomy Comments: Possibly of hybrid origin, from A. cruentus × powellii.
