Rhododendron cumberlandense E.L. Braun. Cumberland Azalea. Phen: Jun-Jul; Jul-Oct. Hab: Balds and exposed or moist slopes. Dist: A Southern Appalachian endemic, primarily west of the Blue Ridge: e. KY and w. VA south to ec. TN, n. GA, and ne. AL; reports from the Piedmont of SC (Kron 1993) are based on R. eastmanii.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: A diploid species.

Synonymy : = F, FNA8, G, K1, K3, K4, Tn, Va, W, Kron (1993), Luteyn et al (1996); = n/a – RAB; = Rhododendron bakeri (Lemmon & McKay) Hume – C, misapplied
