Gentiana puberulenta J.S. Pringle. Section: Pneumonanthe. Prairie Gentian, Downy Gentian. Phen: Aug-Nov. Hab: Prairies, glades, open woodlands, usually over calcareous substrates. Dist: W. NY west to ND, south to KY, sc. TN (Coffee County) (Chester, Wofford, & Kral 1997), LA, n. AR, and KS. Reports for WV are unconfirmed (Harmon, Ford-Werntz, & Grafton 2006).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Synonymy: = Ar, C, FNA14, GrPl, Il, K1, K3, K4, Mi, NY, Tn, Halda (1996), Ho & Liu (2001), Pringle (1967a); = Dasystephana puberula (Michx.) Small – S, misapplied; = Gentiana puberula – F, G, misapplied
