Sabatia capitata (Rafinesque) Blake. Cumberland Rose-gentian. Phen: Jul-Aug; Sep-Oct. Hab: Sloping woodlands and meadows, over sandstone or shale. Dist: Sw. NC (?) and se. TN south to nw. GA and c. AL. Apparently present in NC, at least formerly, based on a specimen collected "from Cherokee", probably Cherokee County, NC

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: (Wilbur 1955), a remarkably poorly botanized area.

Synonymy: = FNA14, K1, K3, K4, Tn, Wilbur (1955); = Lapithea boykinii (A.Gray) Small; = Lapithea capitata (Raf.) Small – S; = n/a – RAB; = Sabatia boykinii A.Gray
