Intro: Erect annual of pine savannas, bogs and shores of Coastal Plain depression ponds; usually in full sun.

Stems: Stems slender, unbranched, smooth.

Leaves: Leaves alternate, tiny and scalelike.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers 1-10 on short stalks at top of stem, bluish-violet, less than 1/4 in. wide, tubular and pointing upward, with 3 flaring "wings" and ending in 6 green to yellow-green, tiny, pointed lobes.
