Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Other Comments: The flowers are typically (but not always) lighter in color than those of var. tuberosa, yellow or yellowish-orange rather than deep orange to reddish. The first reported occurrence in Virginia is discussed by Belden et al. (2004).
