Stylisma patens (Desrousseaux) Myint. Common Dawnflower. Phen: Jun-Aug. Hab: Longleaf pine sandhills and other relatively dry sandy areas. Dist: E. NC south to n. FL, and west to s. MS; reports from west of the Mississippi River are misidentifications.

ID notes:Overall, the most common and widespread taxon of the genus in our region, regularly encountered in its habitat.
