*Verbascum phlomoides Linnaeus. Clasping Mullein, Orange Mullein. Phen: May-Aug; Jul-Sep. Hab: Disturbed areas, roadsides, longleaf pine sandhills (if left unburned). Dist: Native of Europe. In 2021, this species is spreading rapidly in the Fall-line Sandhills region of NC and becoming invasive, encroaching into natural habitats.

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Taxonomy Comments: Hybridizing with Verbascum thapsus when they co-occur, forming Verbascum ×kerneri Borbás.
