Scutellaria elliptica Muhlenberg var. hirsuta (Short & Peter) Fernald. Kentucky Skullcap. Phen: Late May-Jun; Jun-Jul. Hab: Mesic to dry forests. Dist: PA and MI south to w. VA, w. NC, nw. GA, s. AL, and e. TX.

ID notes:Scutellaria elliptica can be confused with S. ovata; S. ovata has all leaves cordate, while S. elliptica only the lowermost are cordate.
