Stachys appalachiana D.B. Poindexter & J.B. Nelson. Hab: Fens, usually over mafic or ultramafic rocks. Dist: Apparently endemic to nw. NC (Alleghany, Ashe, and Watauga counties) and sw. VA (Carroll, Floyd, and Grayson counties).
