Agalinis linifolia (Nuttall) Britton. Phen: Aug-early Oct; Sep-Oct. Hab: Coastal Plain depression ponds, cypress savannas, wet pine savannas. Dist: Se. NC south to s. FL, west to e. LA; disjunct in e. DE (reports for MD and VA are in error).

Intro: Erect to ascending, rhizomatous perennial uncommonly found in Coastal Plain depression ponds, cypress savannas and wet pine savannas, sometimes in standing water.

Stems: Stems slender, unbranched or with a few erect branches, smooth.

Leaves: Leaves opposite, very narrow and mostly ascending, 1-2 in. long.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers on long, slender stalks in a terminal raceme; pale to dark pink, 1-1½ in. long, bilaterally symmetric and tubular, opening to 5 spreading, rounded lobes that are hairy on the margins; the throat of the tube is hairy and pale-spotted but lacking yellow lines.

Fruits: Fruit a narrowly oval capsule.
