*Striga asiatica (Linnaeus) Kuntze. Asiatic Witchweed. Phen: Jul-Aug. Hab: Cultivated fields, parasitic on the roots of corn and other grasses. Dist: Native of the Old World. A serious weed, Striga has been the subject of eradication efforts and quarantine policies since its appearance in our area.

Origin/Endemic status: Paleotropics

Synonymy : = FNA17, K1, K3, K4; = Striga lutea Lour. – RAB
