Verbena stricta Ventenat. Hoary Vervain. Phen: Jun-Sep. Hab: Prairies, glades, barrens, pastures, and roadsides. Dist: W. NY ON, MI, MN, ND, and MT south to KY, TN, MS, AR, TX, and NM; the eastern extent of nativity is uncertain.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: This species hybridizes with V. simplex when they co-occur, forming the hybrid V. ×moechina Moldenke.
