Helianthus petiolaris Nuttall ssp. petiolaris . Plains Sunflower. Phen: May-Aug. Hab: Prairies, sandy open areas, eastwards in disturbed areas in sandy soil. Dist: ON west to AB, south to TX and NM; also eastwards and westwards of that range as apparent introductions.
