Packera aurea (Linnaeus) Á. Löve & D. Löve. Golden Groundsel, Golden Ragwort, Heartleaf Ragwort. Phen: Late Mar-Jun. Hab: Moist forests, bottomlands, bogs, stream banks. Dist: NL (Labrador) west to MN, south to NC, ne. SC, n. GA, n. AL, and c. AR; disjunct in Panhandle FL.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: This species is variable, and some of the more striking variants have been named; some may well warrant formal taxonomic recognition, but additional study is needed.
