Isoetes valida (Engelmann) Clute. Mountain Quillwort, Carolina Quillwort. Hab: Bogs (growing in Sphagnum), pools, ponds, and seeps. Dist: C. PA to s. AL. Reports from MS are false, based on I. mississippiensis.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: A diploid species (2n=22). Genotype=VV.
